*** Semiconductor equipment book-to-bill in June lower

North American semiconductor equipment manufacturers saw a decline in
orders in June, pushing down the industry's benchmark measurement of
orders to shipments, or the book-to-bill ratio, to 0.74. According to
Semiconductor Equipment and Materials International, a trade group
representing the equipment manufacturers, preliminary figures showed
$74 in orders were received for every $100 worth of products shipped
in June. "Contrary to everyone's hopes, May 1998 was not the bottom
of the downturn cycle, although shipments were essentially equal to
those of a year ago," said an analyst with SEMI. The revised figure
for May's book-to-bill was 0.81, SEMI said. See

Truman, is this because Disney lets some groups have their days at the theme parks? or is it the "Touchtone" label that is far from Bambi? or....

Just curious....

Truman: re: <I can not honor request to support S.S. Disney Magic cruise venture.>

What you say mistakenly presupposes the request was to support Disney. The request was to support the Moneytalk Program JUST IN CASE they are tallying the number of people who call as a gage of how many listeners are out there listening to Moneytalk yesterday and today.

Obviously, you are a person with principles and this is an admirable quality. BUT, if you made the call to (800) 551-1333 and requested the brochures for the Disney Magic; it would COST DISNEY the phone call, the cost of the brochure, the postage, the handling overhead, the cost of the service answering your call. Disney could only benefit if you chose to go one one of their cruises.

Basis the above, it seems to be a Win-Win situation for you. Hit Disney for some extra costs they would not have had because of the reasons you say you disapprove of them. AND, support the our favorite financial advice program on the radio, possibly contributing to the possibility that the program might be renewed next year, giving us all a chance to continue to benefit from the sage advice of The Market Savant.

Be assured there will be a lot of unhappy campers if Moneytalk gets cancelled next January.
