<<Jesus clearly fulfilled the both the law and the prophets when he died on Calvary and was raised from the dead. Christians now receive their perfect righteousness through faith in his shed blood. His righteouness--or perfect keeping of the law---is our righteouness through faith. That is the fulfillment.>> That is the fulfillment but it was not destroyed but demonstrated in its truth through Jesus. The text does not end there the best part is yet to come; 17: Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. 18: For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. 19: Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. Somehow you are not addressing heaven and earth passing, what does that mean to you? IMO this refers to the end of days as prophesied as a future event for Heaven and earth are still here they did not pass yet. <<Jesus came and redeemed the Jerusalem of the Old Covenant and established the New Covenant with his Christain people>> Can you explain this? How can you say He redeemed Jerusalem of the Old Covenant? Are you saying only a remnant was saved by the Messiah? He has always had a remnant to serve Him but He did not destroy the rest. By the way there was a court of Gentiles at the Temple and if you read Josephus account of the Septuagant you will see that there has always been a large number of Gentiles that loved and worshipped the Lord God of Israel. Where is the scripture reference for the REAL Jerusalem? That is when I think you get out of scripture. <<Under the New Covenant, Jerusalem is the heart of the believers.>> IMO this is during the times of the Gentiles from Isaiah 49 and Romans 11. Jeremiah 33:24- THe word of the Lord came to Jeremiah: Have you noticed that these people are saying, "The Lord has rejected the two Kingdoms he chose? So they despise my people and no longer regard them as a nation. 25 This is what the Lord says: If I have not established my covenant with day and night and the fixed laws of heaven and earth, 26 then I will reject the decendants of Jacob and David my servant and will choose one of his sons to rule over the decendants of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. For I will restore her fortunes and have compassion on them. Who do you think is accusing Him of rejecting the two Kingdoms (Judah and Israel), despise His people and refuse to regard them as a nation? In this text we also have the fixed order of heaven and earth as in Matthew 5. Nancy
