"If you want to devote time & study religious origins, one of the most comprehensive books with references is by Edward Carpenter entitled, "PAGAN & CHRISTIAN CREEDS: THEIR ORIGIN AND MEANING." Comprehensive, Sam. I've read dozens of your posts, and I have yet to find one contemporary historical document from and eyewitness source that justifies your skepticism about the New Testament. To repeat for the empth time, the New Testament is a contemporary historical doucment containing the eyewitness accounts of men and women who actually saw and heard the life, death and Resurrection of Jesus. Let me give you two quotes from some of these eyewitnesses:2Pet.1 13: Yea, I think it meet, as long as I am in this tabernacle, to stir you up by putting you in remembrance; 14: Knowing that shortly I must put off this my tabernacle, even as our Lord Jesus Christ hath shewed me. 15: Moreover I will endeavour that ye may be able after my decease to have these things always in remembrance. 16: For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty. 17: For he received from God the Father honour and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. 18: And this voice which came from heaven we heard, when we were with him in the holy mount. 19: We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts: Second eyewitness quote: Chapter: 1John.1 1: That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled , of the Word of life; 2: (For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us; ) 3: That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ. 4: And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full. 5: This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. 6: If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: 7: But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. 8: If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. Remember, these simple fishermen would rather die than renounce their simple eyewitness accounts. Think about.
