I think it's fine to have David as a role model--AFTER one has repented of his/her backsliding. Otherwise, it is a role model to sin all you want and things will be fine. Again, as poor David found out, things were never really fine again. That's the problem.

I also do not see that the Christian Church in America should look for justification of carnality in the OT> The OT is hardly the place we look for Christ-like pure and holy behavior. That came ONLY aftert Jesus Christ made it possible. The entire message was that BEFORE Jesus Christ it was almost and utterly, except for about 4 men, absolutely and completely impossible. In fact, within a matter of years the entire nation was over with the sex drugs and rock and roll ceremonies satan was throwing in all of the pagan villages around them. Emphasis on sex and perversion.

But, unless we just want to study David to see what other warnings are there, I sure have spoken enough on this matter. But I guess it's been building up for years with me, and I've never been comfortable in my spirit with many of the missed interpretations of David's life. But he was so much better than the horrible men the people had set up as kings and rulers, in his day he did shine like a brilliant holy star among the men of earth. So, that's something that can't be taken away from him ever.
