Emile, saying something over and over does not make it true. Those were not "eye witness" accounts!! The Gospels were written mostly after Jesus died. They were designed as "Good News" to pass along the legend, keep Jesus' memory alive, and foster new converts to Christianity.

The "liberal scholars" who were on the PBS Frontline program head religious studies departments at major universities in America. They have postdoctoral degrees in theology. They are able to reconcile their personal religious beliefs (many are either Christian or Jews) with history. It is only literal believers who cannot do that. There is much in the spirit of the Christians and Jews that is reflected in the Bible even though the stories aren't necessarily true. Why is that so bad? I know that it is scary for true believers to confront historical reality, and that is why you constantly put them down. But there is a lot of recent archaeological evidence which contradicts some of the stories in the Bible, and that is just fact.
