but the underlying economics of the other "internet" companies is at least that they'll get revenue from on line retailers like amzn which will have to pay out ad costs to them (i am not, repeat not, defending the portal, isp valuations) just pointing out that amzn may have needed a squeeze to create the illusion that it's an internet company and then hope beyond hopes that the naive reatil investors continue to treat it as such -- i really think that it's no coincidence that it's moving MORE in lockstep with yhoo than any other company, including aol, xcit, lcos, nscp, seek, elnk, etc etc.
