Go get 'em OG. I'll call the RBOCs to give 'em your message. Let's see. I'm on hold and listening to *ucking Muzak. Their recorded message says, "We're in trials. We'll get back to you next year..." I do hear the distant rumblings of CLECs...

Gary,

I was interested in the xDSL speeds too, so I called my local provider, USWest, and they told me that I can have it now. This was about 4 weeks ago. They gave me a 3 week install date and I have been up and running for the last week. They were totally unorganized and they will continue to be so for the next 6 months. The departments do not communicate well inside of USWest, but the installer informed me that USWest is getting as many people as possible up on ADSL lines now to get ahead of the competition.

It cost me $110 installation fee, but they gave me a free $300 dollar digital modem, (Netseed, or Csco, I feel cheap having a csco product in my computer, lol) and a free nic from 3com. I used them for the ISP, but the service is only $40 per month, that is what my 2 lines were costing me a month. They also gave me the filters for all of the other phone jacks on the line and then I had them disconnect the other line. I got the 256k service. The DSLAM showed 272k out of the house and 720 into the house, not bad.

There were 6 ISPs to choose from in my state, and I would think my State, Utah, would be the last to get this service.
