Hi Tom :

"1. Is it,or is it not legal for full-strength Jaws to be sold in the U.S.?There seem to be conflicting opinions here.It would be very helpful were JAWZ management to make a clear statement regarding this matter here or on their website ; preferably after consulting with a competent US attorney, and telling us as much."

Yes, it is. On the last conference call ,July 13, Rob Kubbernus stated unequivocally that Jaws could be sold in the States. He received that advice from both a Canadian and a US lawyer, both of whom are very familiar with encryption laws.

"2.How are negotiations coming along with the PDA manufacturer ? Is it a "go" simply after they test the product,or are other factors at work here, such as PDA boardroom resistance to the very concept of securing the product before selling it to the consumer ? Would this be a sale at some discount to retail( $49.95),or a license at an even steeper discount(I venture to guess)."

If you check my post #622, you'll see that I mention 3COM as the probable PDA manufacturer. Let's assume it's 3COM. The more software written for their product, the better a marketing edge they'll have. And if they say that "now you can have the world's first secure PDA by downloading Jaws software", all the better. All 3COM wants to do is to make sure the product works, then they'll allow Jaws to say "Jaws is 3COM certified software." As far as price is concerned, I have no idea at this time. However, ultimately, the smart thing to do would be to have Jaws as part of the firmware, with Jaws receiving a royalty - say $5.00 a unit.
