Barb, I have to agree with you. Some reduced fee schedule based on 200 shares would be ideal. Maybe $10 commissions for 200 shares or less the first 60 days, with the same 50 trade/month minimum for the free data feed. This would attract a lot of Datek customers used to the $10 commissions. I wonder if this is at or near a break even point for MB?

The ideal commission schedule for the trader would be a simple per share transaction as opposed to a per ticket transaction. Not only does it provide beginning traders an opportunity to trade fewer than 1,000 shares, it eliminates the problems of double commissions on split fills, Finally, it allows even experienced traders to ditch half of a winning position and risk their gains with the other half overnight (for example) for the price of one ticket and not two...
