I don't know the true similarities of the mechanics of comparing weighing weather or not to purchase or lease a car , and weather or not to purchase opr lease a computer. I do think, personally, they are more similar than the products themselves are. A company knows they have to budget a certain amount of money annualy for technology. This method allows the company the ability to always have up to date technology at a lower cost than actually buying. I think there's more here than you originally thought. Take me for example....A car is not a necesity, I could take a bus...I don't, I drive. I could just use the computer my company provides, I don't I just bought a lap top to make my service better and more competitive and did the same thing six months ago when I up-dated my home desktop......neither of the last 2 computers i bought in the last 6 months were necesarry, but personally I felt they were more important than getting rid of my 9 year old vehicle which I own and is as functional as a 98.....That will never be true in technology. This is why I think yopurware, which is much more expensive than purchasing, makes a ton of sence for the consumer and will ultimately be great for the box makers. My opinion only and I said in an earlier post I am nuetral on GTW but very long on CPQ. I think CPQ and others will mimic yourware very soon.
