Given your post, just something to think about. Williams Network currently consists of one fiber optic strand, yes they are building up and should be expanded by 2001. From your article it appears that they are going with ASND.

QWEST is up and running with 96 fiber optic strands and room for another 96 in a second cable, they have not and in all likelihood will not endorse the Williams ATM architecture. The QWEST network should be completely up by March 99 at the latest. QWST has gone with CSCO.

In the end, it may not matter much as Lucent will probably buy ASND before '98 is over.
