Paul and All,
The Humble One has just been out viewing the Intel property on this Sunday evening and here is my report of the activity I observed at 7PM:

At 5200 NE Elam Young Pkwy I observed about 100 cars. I talked to some workers as they were leaving. They were very polite, but really did not want to talk to me. I humbly told them that I had come all the way up from California to check on my investment, so in response to my question about what kind of chips they were making I found out that they were making motherboards. BTW Lattice Semiconductor is busy building a huge place across the street from this Intel location.

I was impressed with what I had seen and drove off. Off yonder I spotted 4 huge cranes, so I drove over to investigate who was building at that location. It turned out to be Intel! This "Pearl" of a building site is located at: Intel Ronler Acres, 2501 NW 229th Ave, Hillsboro. This site is a somewhat rectangular in size and has a circumference of close to 2 miles. One building is finished and 3 other buildings are under construction. The construction workers were not working at 7PM on Sunday evening, but the Intel workers were busy. I made a pretty accurate count of about 200 cars.

Paul, please tell us what these people are so busy doing on a Sunday evening. I hope that they are busy making money for themselves and lots of money for the investors and
humble carl

Paul Engel. Re: "We came to the realization that we were just distributors and integrators of Microsoft and Intel technology." OTOH I agree, it is, "Music to my ears" too. But OTOH, it seems to me in this set up that Intel must take on much more of the inventory risk. Somebody has to hold some inventory of chips, and if the cpqs, dells et al do not then Intel must. So when sales drop, as they do seasonally, Intel is left holding the bag. No? They can enter into long term purchase contracts with the top PC makers to put some of this cost back to them, but it seems tricky to me.

What do you think?
