I think the sudden acceleration of the Clinton investigation which may be reaching a dramatic point is exacerbating and may prolong the current downturn. Keep in mind whatever your political views or assessment that a change in power may be a non-event, the fact is much of the recent explosive rally especially in the few largest Nasdaq technology issues was foreign money moving in and this is the money that is especially prone to sell first and make sophisticated analysis of American politics later. It is also clear there will be no rapid resolution of this issue as Clinton will certainly not resign over this unless faced with certain impeachment which is unlikely and Starr is essentially obligated to send the worst report he can muster to Congress
