Greetings Dll, Daniel Chapter 9 begins with Daniel acknowledging and confessing not only his own sins but the sins of the nation of Israel while the nation is in captivity in Babylon, due to the breaking of the Law of Moses( Sinaitic Covenant ) thus bringing the curses of the Law upon themselves. (Dan 9:11).It is profitable to keep in mind that prior to God making a Covenant with Israel via Moses, He had already instituted the Abramic Covenant, which stated in effect, that through his seed One would come who would bless ALL NATIONS. On the same note, God also made a promise to Adam that there was One who would come who would crush the head of Satan. ( Gen 3:15 ) The Adamic promise and the Abrahamic Covenant existed prior to the Sinaitic Covenant and was always in effect running parallel alongside the Sinaitic Covenant. We next should briefly remember that God Made a Covenant with David called the Davidic Covenant, which was really an extension of the promise to Adam and the Abrahic Covenant, all pointing to the coming of the Holy One of Israel. The Davidic Covenant stated that the coming Kingdom shall not end and so forth. David himself caught glimpses of this New Covenant after he committed adultery with bathsheba and had Urriah her husband killed. The law of Moses demanded death for these types of sin, however David reached into the New Covenant when he declared before Almighty God that " sacrifice and offering have I none ( Psalm 40-6 )to offer you to atone for my sins. He was most blessed to have be shown insights of this New Covenant. Psalm 46 is well worth the reading and meditating upon to try and capture how the heart of David was overcome with joy by what God had shown him of the Salvation soon to come. I will stop here DLL for tonight and continue on to verses 24-27 , the Lord willing tomorrow night. Please let me know your responses or questions should you have some. May the Holy Spirit Bless His Most Holy Word and grant the understanding to the hearers. Robert
