andrew, hal, hugh, gus, jubimer, swampfox, ed.....everyone.

i hadn't done a search in a awhile,
(except to note the below site posted to hal)
so i thought now might be a good time, given
the quiet period on thread...

re: anton/bauer,
they're a high end
reseller currently featuring
prominently ampex products on the net;
the names may be familiar to some of you
as they are both noted engineers.

anyway,
the searches i just completed (one
ampex storage, one vintage) produced
more hits than i've ever obtained ( discounting
the usual redundancy, of course).

the variety of information
is a treasure chest of public relations mileage ,
if not a source for a clever trade campaign...
it's very hard
to accept the market's aversion to ampex
after observing its remarkable sphere of industry influence...

finally,
i hope you enjoy the following;
i look forward to everyone's insights.

[a partial excerpt from the book....Nixon guided Khrushchev to a room equipped with an RCA closed-circuit color television and Ampex videotape machine. As they entered the room, they could see themselves on a monitor. They were being taped, so they would immediately be able to see a replay of their live performance. This was the high-water mark in the history of international diplomatic narcissism. Nixon and Khrushchev stared into the monitor, waved and grinned as if they thought themselves very pretty, as if they were two little boys regarding themselves in the shiny chrome of the family toaster. ]
