Taking good product positions is a sign of good management, of course. But integrating all those acquisitions and keeping the key people on board is also a sign of good management. I note that despite all the acquisitions and all the new insiders, not one insider sale is on record recently. And then there is the fact that Digital Instruments accepted a lower offer from VECO than the one they turned down from ZIGO, presumably because they had more confidence in the VECO management team (i.e. Braun).
