Data to Go: Smart Handhelds Keep Business Workers Tied to Critical
Data, According to IDC Report - 09:19 a.m. Jul 27, 1998 Eastern

FRAMINGHAM, Mass., July 27 /PRNewswire/ -- A growing population of
users are turning to handheld devices as a means of keeping critical,
actionable information with them at all times. These users are
primarily purchasing small, inexpensive personal companions such as
the PalmPilot to ensure that their most important data is accessible
to them immediately. New research from International Data Corporation
(IDC) presents survey results of 600 U.S. business workers to investigate
their handheld usage, feature requirements, and brand preference.
Findings show that personal companions were the most frequently used
devices among respondents. 3Com's PalmPilot showed a powerful presence,
with 70.4 percent of respondents using the device and another 54.8
percent intending to purchase one.

WF, I did note the Cypress/Benhamou story last week. I do not know
Eric's plans with Cypress. I guess we will have to wait for the
fullness of time for him to disclose his plans.
