Concerning your question whether MCD carries beer outside the US I can definitely say yes they do. Here in Germany you get either Becks or some strange beer without a brand name. They neither sell Miller nor Bud (or Busch as it is known since some months when Anheuser-Busch lost their battle against the Czech Budweiser brewery).
US-beers are very high priced in Germany because they are marketed as very cool. Though volume is still low, I can't even imagine the profit margin on those sales ($4 for a bottle Bud).
Anyway, I fear that the beer industry will be the next victim of government actions in the US. I just wonder what happened to the country of the free? Europe is pretty regulated but when it comes to beer and tobacco it's still a wonderful place compared to the US.
Sometimes I wonder why MO does not move their headquarters to Europe. The German government would be very helpful with subsidies ;-)

Holger

Yeah, the cheese really got us going <g>.

As regard to beer, let me give you just a little idea for over here, and that goes for Miller as well as Bud in Switzerland: They both have only very small marketshare because the local beer lobby is holding a firm grip on reataurants and bars, etc. You can buy U.S beers in stores (not so many) at relatively high (normally too high) prices, as it is flewn in from the U.S. (not entirely sure for Bud on this one)

To have a U.S. beer in a bar late night, with babes and music and stuff is regarded as chic (Miller Genuine Draft is the top choice then). But it will then cost north of $6 a bottle in the "right" bar.

Miller and Bud really are "something special" over here, no real penetration.
