Here's the basic problem.

MOT and Ericsson decided a couple of years ago to not contest the Nokia model changeover in 1998.....but to put their new phones out in 1999. So, Nokia will have a full year of headstart in the smaller, lighter phones, before the MOT V-Series digital is available for consumer purchase.....anywhere.

But, if we want to see what the digital handsets will "look and feel" like, you and I can look at the analog version (the V3620), which is supposed to be available "third quarter 1998". Same form factor and weight, according to the MOT release. And, just so, if TFS is making displays today, they are likely for the analog version V3620.

Incidentally, we should remember than analog still has the bulk of the worldwide market. Digital has the buzz; Nokia has the buzz. All the noise is at the margin. Stocks are priced at the margin. mcd

Ariella,

If I were a betting person, I would lay odds on the fact that TFS is closer to an order from Ericcson than Nokia. I guess that should not surprise you. I would love to see an order from either one at this point, as our future would be secured with either. 3 of the top 10 would become 4 of the top 10, AND 2 of the top 3.

regards,

ED
