Steve:

Kind of a delayed reaction isn't it. That acquisition occurred three months ago didn't it? The charge was a bookkeeping entry. The acquisition was paid for mainly in stock was it not? More liquidity for THQI as these shares are/were sold.

I am sure if Farrell wanted to buy that company he had a pretty good reason for doing so. One of the potential negatives about a company like THQI is that it is stuck in a technology that is becoming obsolete. This acquisition is part of a strategy of remaining current with technology. I personally thought it was a good move.

Steve,

Todd, What was the actual purchase price for GaneFx? It cost .98 in q2. How can BF justify so much for zero profits or even revenue. The $7.5 M charge is more than he has mede off any game--and Excession is the only game in the near future.

I really doubt BF bought GameFX for just one game. The value of the acquisition is that it gives THQ an in-house team of developers with 3d-graphics expertise -- a team that will hopefully produce several quality games in the years to come. While $7.5 M may seem a lot in the short-term, this will hopefully be worth it in the long-term. Anyway, just my two cents. :-)

Steve,

Here is the equation that they used for this aquisition:

GameFX + Excession = PAX Imperia V

GameFX appears to be Microprose without any products.
