I think Silicon Graphics should consider changing their name -- maybe to "SGI." This sounds like a quibble, but now that graphics workstations make up a small part of business, it doesn't help for SGI servers -- now the mainstay of revenue -- to be branded as "graphics" machines when they are compared to SUN. Notice today's news -- SUNW had an increase of 75% in server sales, (mostly low end) and outgrew SGI in the high end.

This in spite of the fact that SGI delivers superior price/performance ration with its Origin2000 server:

I am still planning on buying some more SGI, but I'm starting to suspect it might still drop another point in the next few weeks. It looks like there won't be much good news to move the stock up for a while.

Incidently, I'm about to give up reading the YAHOO SGI thread. There is very little information there. I think we are better off investing our time here in Silicon Investor where the quality of posts is better. --JD
