Ramsey,

I got the impression from Greenspan testimony that he would like nothing better than a nice calm drip by drip, 30 pts here 50 there, mkt correction that brought us down to less exalted levels, that he certainly wasn't going to encourage any more speculation by dropping rates.I'm wondering if we did get say a 20% dip, what he might do then? IMO we have witnessed a failure in the way capitalism sometimes allocates resources. The places which have needed capital the most, ie Asia have seen enormous outflows, cash chasing cash flowing into speculative assets here and in Europe. A moderate correction , if not to speedy, might just be the medicine the global economy needs..

<<I have been called names all weekend and now I am stick-in-mud!! OK, you asked for it.>>

Ramsey: My mom always used to say, "If they didn't like you, they wouldn't tease you." While based on rather peculiar logic, there is a lot of truth to it. I call you stick-in-the-mud with a tone of "virtual" friendship and respect.

Thanks for your synopsis. I appreciate your perspective. ...Tim
