I finally got the nerve to buy some puts (options) on the S&P 500 for March 99. I figure that either a natural correction in the market will occur by then, or a major one caused by Y2k panic. Many date fields in programs have already used 99 as other functions. Also, many programs may be doing one-year projections or other tasks ending in 00. Thus, when some of these big problems start making big news, the panic may start.

I'm also holding on to my precious metals mutual funds, even though they've gone down lately. Anything's possible in the Y2k panic.
