I totally agree. That is a good strategy. I use covered calls a lot and covered puts are basically the same thing from the short side. That would be a safe and sensible way to take advantage of the huge premiums the mm's are charging for puts. Definitely worth considering for anyone going short. The only disadvantage is it limits your mobility in getting out quickly of your short. That is why I would stick to the shortest time frame available. Hopefully the put premium would make up for any losses you suffered with the stock heading higher.
