**Completely OT** - <Japan has the oldest royal dynasty in the world, dating back to centuries before Julius Caesar was a twinkle in his father's eye.>

Actually, the Japanese ancestral (sp?) stock was almost certainly still in Korea in Julius' time. Of course the Japanese don't like to think that, and there are some serious attempts at revisionism going on, but, ... . Maybe their royal tile maintained continuity, but I doubt it.

Just having fun.

***OT***

Another myth....

The serfs, aka "Mom n Pop Shops", work very hard for low pay and were not considered in the old lifetime employment picture because they were really just "piece part" or "contractors".

They took care of their elderly not thru Social Security but through family. Their poor can work in the "mom n pop" shops so they don't have to starve. In a way, we have a safety net that allows for the failure of families and thus requires more safety nets to be built. Japanese (and many other in the Asian Tiger regions) consider our poor and mentally ill "lazy".

regards
Kirk out

Katherine and all,

with all the focus on Japanese culture here, anyone notice the yen is creeping up, above 142 now?

Is BOJ going to defend or is white knight Rubin coming to the rescue this time? What level does the yen have to reach before panic hits?

Comments?
