I have cancelled market orders with some frequency, especially shorts. When shorting you need to catch it on an uptick, so a limit makes it real tough to get a fill when shorting, to cover it is no problem a limit works just fine. Officially, they will tell you that you can't cancel a market order. It certinly is possible and I have done it many times. It is just a crap shoot as to if you can.

RIck, I'm sure I've canceled market orders in the past (back when I actually used them).
I go through a bank brokerage so maybe that had something to do with it.
Or perhaps my memory is not as good as it should be.
