You're correct... if it goes to 40, I would lose out on the gain. However, while its just languishing in a range(say 30-35), I think it is more prudent to buy and flip a few times than to wait for the one time big rise. Hindsight is always 20-20, though if I used this strategy for the last 8 months I've held this stock, I would have already significantly lowered my cost average.
