John, Rev. 2:9 and 3:9 are very clear verses. They applied well at the end of Paul's life when he tells us that a true Jew is a person who blieves in Jesus Christ. You can imagine what those real "blood" Jews must of told Paul in those days. They apply equally well today. There are approx. 20 million people who claim to be Jews but reject Jesus Christ. Alsol, there is the fantastic conincdience that moder Judaism still meets in Synagogues. The meaning of these verses is very clear. 'I know the blasphemy of them who say they are Jews and are not. They are the Synagogue of Satan' It is the very same principle in St. John's epistle where he talks about who is an antichrist. He who rejects Christ is antichrist. Both St. Paul and St. John were Jews who were facing the heat and hatred of the new Judaism who had set themselves against their Messiah but wanted to continue to claim the glory of being God chosen.
