Jim, as I said I originally thought it would take about another five years for Dell to overtake CPQ in PC sales. I blew it. It now looks like perhaps another year at most! I just remember the names good old Steve called me when I suggested this happening.

CTC

Jim, see any possible icebergs on the horizon?

Thanks

Jim -
CPQ had a 21% sequential decline in PC sales this last quarter
That does not take into account the units sold out of channel inventory. Sales out numbers have to be well in excess of 3M units for CPQ. Given current trends, and real CPQ sales of over 3M units compared to Dell's 1.7 (or 1,8)M, I would expect that CPQ will stay ahead for at least another 2 years. Bad news for HP and IBM though. Note that both IBM and HP also stuffed the channel so their share numbers on a slaes in basis are low in comparison to real sales.
