The first cut at a control group was to take the top twenty stocks.
The problem with this is that we would be overweighted in heal.
So we made a rule that no more than 3 stocks could come from the
same sector. Therefore, the control group comes from the top twenty
stocks above within the 3 stocks per sector rule.
Next we started at the top of the above table and picked the first
twenty stocks that also have a growth rate of at least 20% and
a PE that is no more than 70% of that growth rate. These twenty
stocks became "VL1&2MF1JULY98". We will now compare the results
of "VL1&2MF1JULY98" to the control group.
Sell rules 1) Stock is no longer VL 1 or 2.
2) Stock's RS goes into a column of O's
3) Stock violates the BSL.
Any stock sold will be replaced with the then next stock in line.
