Patrick: You're right. Tava would probably get in trouble. When I wrote the post, I was thinking of the how the new "hot button" software works. You've got a spreadsheet open, and you're figuring the bid on part #xxxxx. With a "hot button", you go directly from your spreadsheet to Tava's database and get the precise information on part xxxxxx. It appears right in your spreadsheet. There is no browser in between, at least not in the way browsers now work. Each time someone gets piece of data, their account is charged. The same data is sold again and again. And they have to buy the software that accesses the database from Tava, who licenses the system from a "hot button" company. The more sophisticated the database, the more useful it becomes in meeting bid deadlines.
