I think that this point about fiduciary responsibility is missing the point somewhat. I dont think they ever turned down an offer of $6/s directly but rather when approached by people or intermediaries on behalf of companies who might be interested in talking to them about an acquisition these people were given the brushoff by ancor management. I think they told these people they had absolutely no interest in selling the company so therefore actual discussions never took place. In my opinion if they had been willing to listen the co. could have fetched between ten to thirteen dollars a share. And I am talking about 1998. I have always been optimistic about ancor especially considering there technology on the hardware side and thought that even bad management could not screw things up. I was wrong. Their software situation, poor presentation and sales ability, complete lack of entrepreneurial skills, these are all things contributing to this situation. But, by far the most frustrating thing for all of us is that they dont even know they are blowing it. Unless they figure it out now and get their act together quickly Brocade will end up with all the business. Believe me those OEM relationships and decisions are taking place now. Forget Cray Research and supercomputers, get your behinds out in the market place, figure out what is going on and get some business.
