A credit card purchase is safer than any other means. The bank merchant almost always sides with the consumer. In addition, you are protected against fraud. You are not responsible for payments that you did not authorize. In fact, the merchant charging you is penalized for every reversal. So, the risk is more on the merchant than the consumer.

I have learned to purchase all things on my American Express and pay it off at the end of the month. It creates a trail and provides protection in case a merchant sold me a bad product or service. We normally have six months to appeal a charge. What many people do not understand is that the Internet is a lot safer than a phone for CC transactions.
