Monty ; That's the way a lot of the big money plays it , if it's
moving they may "leg in" but they get positions on both sides
via derivatives , and what they need is volatility either way. Currency markets are prime time with them.
They don't care if they lose one side of the position as long
as it moves enough that the other side makes more than a double.
The way they lose big is if it goes flat, other than that they make
the spread, the more volatile the more they make.
