Jim: the brokerages and funds all make their money on fees from funds under management. There's many many publicly traded mutual-fund houses and brokerages, several dozen at least, many are smallcap. Seems to me we would see a merger mania within the fund houses as a last effort to keep the market alive before she sinks in the asian sea. I've been watching for this, haven't seen it.
