"Years ago Sun Microsystems hired a Palo Alto consultancy to do focus
groups on computer users' perceptions of what an "open system" really
is. Sun was stunned when the customers proclaimed that DOS-based
computers were open because they allowed the user to pick a variety of
of software and install what they wanted, while the Sun/Unix approach
was seen as closed.

A Sun executive responded, "The customers are wrong", ended the
project and deep-sixed the study."

<< Perhaps that was before your time, huh? >>

Ha ha. When do you think "my time" in the computer world started? Careful, before you answer. :-)
