Doren,

Well you could guess that Apple told Gates to go fly a kite, but it would be just a
guess.

What I was referring to was the WSJ report on Katie Cotton's testimony. The "multimedia software for Windows" is clearly Quicktime. The Apple software tools is less certain. I'm thinking maybe YellowBox.
Don't worry. I never underestimate Bill. But I always have put my money on Jobs, and so far, I haven't regretted it.

The Wall Street Journal reported Thursday that the U.S. Department of Justice is
investigating allegations that Microsoft tried to persuade Apple to stay out of the
consumer market for multimedia software. Investigators reportedly are studying
information obtained from Apple indicating that Microsoft executives proposed three
times -- most recently in March -- that Apple retreat from its plans for the Windows
multimedia market and leave that field to Microsoft, the newspaper said, in exchange for
an endorsement of Apple software tools.

Apple reportedly rejected the proposal.

Regards,

Scott

If that's the fate of Java, what about JINI?
