Interesting artcle on Microsoft effort to incorporate 3D into the internet through their recent launching of Chromeffects (previously code-named Chrome). Mighty Microsoft's effort to expand the use of 3D will help to grow the 3D market. This is especially beneficial to TDFX in that they are going the 3D accelerator route through their directX drivers.

<<Microsoft chose the slogan "Fast/Flashy/Functional" to characterize the technology. Chromeffects is fast because most of the hard work is done on the client with "lightweight descriptions" streamed over the Internet. "Fast" also describes Chromeffects' leverage of available hardware acceleration via DirectX. "Flashy" comes from the expectation that authors and developers will build colorful animations, spinning logos, and jazzy TV-like transitions. And "Functional" relates to the expectation that new and useful interface, navigation, and communication paradigms will be born from widespread availability of this technology.>>
