Merck raises qtly div to $0.54 from $0.45 WHITEHOUSE STATION, N.J., July 28 (Reuters) - Pharmaceutical giant Merck & Co. Inc. said Tuesday its board of directors boosted its quarterly dividend to $0.54 per share from $0.45 per share. The dividend is payable on Oct. 1, to shareholders of record on Sept. 4. The company's total dividends paid during 1998 will be $1.89 per share -- a 12 percent increase over the amount paid in 1997. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- More
