Your confusion is understandable; let me try to explain. The earnings estimate from Crutterden-Roth, an investment house thought to be "partial" to the company, was 6 cents per share. It was felt by many that this was a "low ball" estimate and that the company would beat this estimate. In other words it was whispered that earnings would be higher; some felt that this was implied by Neal Sanders the IR person although I have no direct info. regarding this area. So when the actual earnings came in at 5 cents per share, this was felt to be a great disappointment. It is similar in other areas. If you are offered $100, 000 for a salary it can be great or a disappointment depending on what you expected.
