RE: I agree with your points. The critical measure is the rate at which computers find their way to the end consumer. I think critics on this thread have pointed out that Compaq did not complain about this method when it was stuffing the channel and consequently sales were overestimated.

You bring up a great point here.
They are talking about negative GDP, and contracting consumer spending.
In that environment,
will DELL be able to continue selling $2,100 PC's, or do you think the few folks that are still are going to buy a PC might go for the lower priced models ?
Remember, this question is being asked assuming that consumer spending is slowing.
