Mary Bordeaux Joins ALZA as Vice President of Health Systems PALO ALTO, Calif., July 28 /PRNewswire/ -- ALZA Corporation (NYSE: AZA) today announced that Mary Bordeaux has joined its sales and marketing group as vice president of health systems. Ms. Bordeaux, 50, assumes responsibility for managed healthcare accounts, government sales, key provider and customer alliances, reimbursement and distribution strategy. She reports to Jim Butler, ALZA's senior vice president of sales and marketing. "We're delighted to add a senior-level sales and marketing executive of Mary Bordeaux's caliber to direct our national account strategy. Mary's expertise will be critical in building ALZA's alliances with managed care organizations, pharmacy benefit groups and a range of national and regional providers," said Mr. Butler. Ms. Bordeaux comes to ALZA with more than 25 years experience in the pharmaceutical industry, most recently as national accounts director for VIVUS, Inc. At VIVUS she developed the national account strategy for the introduction of the MUSE(R) erectile dysfunction product, working with HMOs and other managed care organizations to successfully secure coverage of this product for 85 percent of all managed care patients nationwide. From 1975 to 1994 she was with Syntex Laboratories, Inc. in senior marketing and finance positions. Ms. Bordeaux currently serves on the industry advisory committees for both the National Pharmaceutical Association and the Pharmaceutical Care Management Association.
