Michael, he didn't say it was due to Clinton. He said that he has done better under his presidency than any other president. I concur with that assessment. I will go further. The Clinton Administration's handling of the economy has been excellent.

If you are dispassionate about it, ask yourself what economic blunders has Clinton made? Much was made of the dire consequences of raising the minimum wage. Greenspan (an opponent of the minimum wage) agreed that it has not hurt the economy to date, although he did say that untoward consequences could be in the future. Clinton is holding fast on his promise to try to reduce the deficit rather than provide tax reduction. Greenspan readily agreed that this was the more prudent (if less politically palatable) course. Rubin has done a masterful job. The administration has shown itself to be a friend of business. Microsoft and Staples aside, mergers have gone through easily at an unprecedented rate.

This analysis has nothing to do with whether you find the man likeable or distasteful. It has nothing to do with his sexual proclivities or unctuous demeanor. It has to do with objective measures of performance.

So where is the problem? Unless you like MO and the rest of big tobacco.

TTFN,
CTC
