DJBEINO: Thanks for the link (key points below). Hmmm, where are those NOVL bears who say that Schmidt isn't doing enough to turn the company around in due fashion? Heck, hiring of SUNW fellow in May to lead small business applications of Java, share buy-back program (which at todays prices is great for NOVL so they can preserve their $$$), and now appointment of 2 directors to NOVL Board announced in one week. Seems like a great August is shaping up IMHO.....;) <<''Eric and his new team are clearly pursuing some of the most exciting opportunities in networking,'' said Joy. ''Novell is way ahead of the curve in delivering distributed intelligence for business users. I'm delighted with the prospect of contributing to the decision making for the company.'' Joy was the principal designer of the University of California, Berkeley, version of the UNIX operating system whose networking protocols and implementations spawned the Internet. He is currently leading a Sun research effort -- called JINI -- to expand the power of Java technology. The JINI project focuses on technologies that enable spontaneous networking and dramatically simplifies the access and delivery of network services. He continues to be an important industry evangelist for the ''open systems'' model of computing, based on open industry standards, which maximizes flexibility and freedom of choice for network computing customers. Joy's appointment to the board is the second this month for Novell. It follows the July 21 appointment to Novell's board of Reed E. Hundt, a principal of Charles Ross Partners and former chairman of the Federal Communications Commission. >>
