I think the settlement is good in so far as they go all back to work and have established the idea to talk first next time(s) before striking. Some productivity increases will come out of it; slowly, slowly the workforce in the U.S. will decrease due to attrition, if nothing else.

This is a major thing starting (well, continuing rather). It will be with us for years, I see huge potential. Remember C anyone when it crawled back from the brink under Iacocca? The situation at GM is sure different, but these trends take time to work out. GM is a supertanker, you cannot steer it as lightly as a Boston Whaler. Hey, they influence the U.S. GDP by plus or minus 1/2 a percent or so!!

Anyway, I'll buy GM today.
