Hi Clint,

You and I seem to be on the same page. I mentioned earlier today that I am ready to abandon all my longs tomorrow if tomorrow is as ugly as today. This market is starting to give me the creeps. I thought we would have another month of rallying thru to dell's earnings but now I don't know about that. The way cmgi has sold off in the face of geocities ipo is kind of scary. The net stocks look poised for some kind of collapse. The semi's look like they will all head under 10 bucks pretty soon, despite intel's unreasonable strength. Some people are saying to buy them now that everyone hates them. It's true everyone hates them but that does not necessarily make them good buys. Look at the hated disk drive segment. Everyone started hating them about a year ago, and all they've done since then is go lower. I see the same for the semi's.
I also wanted to thank you for a great call on intel and msft earlier in the summer. I knew for a fact that intel would miss their numbers and they did miss, but somehow you knew that that wouldn't spoil this great summer rally. And you were right on with calling msft also, which I got out of a couple of weeks ago at 117 for my best gain ever, by a mile. Your encouragement really helped me and I appreciate it. Maybe I could buy you a fancy dinner or something some time. If you are interested please let me know by private email. I owe you something for your great calls. Right now I don't seem to have any strong intuition, which is when I usually get hurt in the market. When msft was 85 2 months ago I just knew in my bones that it and the tech market wanted to rally badly. Now I'm kind of lost. I'm starting to think about puts. I figure Nov puts should give plenty of time for some calamity to strike due to Japan, SE Asia, Russia, the Dumbocrats maybe winning congress, Clinton and the bimbo part 4, or whatever else. October is scary all by itself.
