<<The reason Qualcomm investors resent Ericcson is that we invested in a small startup company rolling out a new technology, a very risky investment, but huge upside potential and Ericsson was doing all they could to make sure they didn't succeed. When a company is trying to ruin your investment it is an emotional thing.>>

Peter: As a holder of both Ericy and Qcom, I think I understand your point. The thing that has always struck me as a waste of energy in either direction is the question that pops into my mind when I see the "emotional" side of this debate surface, which is frequently; that question being, "So, have your (not directed to you, specifically) resentments, your emotional investment in this issue, added to the profitability of your holdings?" To each, his own answer.

Another perspective is to what extent one thinks Qcom would cheerlead a small company with a new technology that surfaced as a serious threat to the Q's? I would not expect them to graciously offer a smile and a welcoming hand. We're all nice people but we're talking about a highly competitive business. (As I said, I own a little on both sides of the fence. I'd love to see them both succeed handsomely; it's not a zero sum game.)
