Cendant Chairman Forbes quits, Silverman steps in July 28, 1998 07:13 PM PARSIPPANY, N.J., July 28 (Reuters) - Cendant Corp. CD said on Tuesday that Walter Forbes resigned as chairman after facing weeks of increasing pressure to step aside at the beleaguered marketing and franchise giant. Cendant said it hoped to restore its credibility after the the departure of Forbes and nine board members from CUC International, which merged with HFS Inc. last December and where widespread accounting fraud was uncovered earlier this year.
