IDX...Conference call now available. The exciting things for me were: 1. The O'Hare pilot with Oracle which may well produce a stunning joint venture. Randy stated that FAA/airport folks were "quite excited" about what had been achieved so far. 2. The info on the INS which was a response to a question by some Conseco guy. Randy stated that all INS orders had been shipped and paid for. Not all have been installed because INS outsourcer (EDS/Hughes) is in charge of timing. Randy stated that a "new" RFP has been "expected" for the last 3 mo. but that it has not yet materialized. He didn't seem too worried and reassured that INS designated funding did not have a must-spend-by 9/30 requirement. There was discussion of: the geographic distribution of sales (US greatest), resolution of the minutiae vs. pattern based recognition argument, Sylvan (expects increase revenues from that JV) and Smartcards in healthcare and security systems. Randy also noted that strategic alliances are "heating up" and that he expects "real sales" to fall out soon.
It all sounded pretty solid to me. Jean

One more thing...Randy stated that he believes that the future of interment security will be in a form that combines something like Entrust with a pattern matching system of the IDX variety. Really did a hatchet job on the inferior, non-secure products being hawked by Compaq and Identicator. He said that when people got serious about security, they'd think otherwise but that market forces themselves would prevail. Jean
