Gee, Brandy... I'm sorry I haven't been posting as much as you would like.... have I come up with something new? A post on the AOL board..... very interesting... : <<<<<Subject: Unmineable Coal Date: Mon, Jul 27, 1998 15:55 EDT From: Aeriel Jok Message-id: <1998072719550500.PAA04264@ladder03.news.aol.com> FYI: I was asked by a friend to do some DD for him concerning a "hot" stock, symbol MTEI. I found/know that coals in Lincoln County, West Virginia are medium quality (10,220 - 12,100 BTU) type coals and are currently uneconomical to mine due to current coal pricing ($ 19 - 22 /ton). Pittston Minerals owned and operated their Hartland facility in Hartland, Lincoln County for two years and lost some 4.6 Million due to high mining & transportation costs which are typical of coals located in Lincoln County. Raleigh County does indeed contain some high quality steam and metalurgical coals however, most easily mineable coal (coals which are economical to mine) have been exhausted or are being held by large mining Companies (Massey, Peabody, Arch, etc) For anyone to purchase Coal properties in West Virginia without being an experienced coal person who has worked in West Virginia is suicidal at best. Having lived in West Virginia for some 40 + years, having graduated from West Virginia University with a Mine Engineering Degree, having obtained a Professional Engineer license and having been in the coal industry in West Virginia for some 20 years, I think that I am qualified to make the above statements. Additionally, I have NEVER heard of Mountain Energy or know of no properties that they own. I have made numerous inquires to gas/oil people that I know here in West Virginia and they also have never heard of MTEI. At this point, my research stopped and I drew a conclusion. If I were an investor or a potential investor, I believe that I would be calling the West Virginia Secretary of States office (The Honorable Ken Heckler @ 304 558-6000) and asking about business licenses, taxpayer ID's, mineral producer ID's, etc and I would also call the West Virginia Enviromental Bereau, Oil & Gas Division @ 304 759-0516 and ask about ownership of gas, oil and/or coal tracts. I would also do some DD on specific tracts of lands transfered in the stated Counties. A 1-304-555-1212 information call for the city of Hamlin (County seat of Lincoln County) and another fro Beckley (County seat of Raliegh County) and ask for the County Clerks office, they can research land transfers, land ownerships, mineral rights, etc. Safe Harbor: I make no claims or warrants to the information contained nor do I have any financial interest(s) concerning this stock. This information provided is strickly my opinion. Do NOT take my word for anything, if you have questions, perform your own due diligence, real due diligence not just reading one-sided statements. Take it or leave it. . . >>>>>>
